Was That YouPsalm 25:9

The Meek Will He Guide

This message is for A woman who has already decided what she wants and cannot tell her own wanting from God's voice needs to see which quality the psalm names as the qualifier.

She has noticed something about the voice she has been calling God's, and she has not looked straight at it yet.

It agrees with her.

Not on everything. On the big one. There is a decision she has wanted a particular outcome on since roughly February, and over six months of prayer, journalling and two conversations with people she trusts, every impression she has received has pointed the same direction, which is the direction she wanted before she started.

She has taken that consistency as confirmation. Six months, same answer, no wavering.

There is a version of this where she is right, and she knows it, and that is why the thing is hard. Sometimes what you want and what God is saying are the same, and treating every desire as suspect is its own kind of illness.

But there is a question she has been walking past for weeks, and it arrived in the shower, and it will not leave.

If the answer came back the other way tomorrow, would she take it?

Here is the sentence she has never said out loud.

She already knows she would not, and she has been careful not to know it.

The Meek Will He Guide

Read who gets guided

There is a line in the twenty fifth psalm about who is led, and the qualifier is not intelligence, maturity or spiritual experience.

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.Psalm 25:9

The meek will he guide.

Meek is a badly worn word. It does not mean timid and it does not mean quiet, and half the people you would call meek are neither. It means power under somebody else's hand. A horse that is broken to the bridle is not a weak horse. It is a strong one that will now go where it is turned.

Which means the qualifier for being guided is not how well you hear. It is whether you would go the other way if the answer came back the other way.

And that means the question in the shower is not an intrusion. It is the psalm doing its work in you.

Your guiding turns on your willingness rather than on your accuracy, and Psalm 25:9 makes meekness the qualifier in plain words. That is what the word actually names, not a standard I am imposing, and the Holy Spirit is the One who raises that question in a shower six months in.

Wanting it is not the problem

Now the plain thing, because I do not want you to hear the wrong sermon.

Wanting the outcome is not the sin, and I am not going to hand you the rule that says whatever you want must be wrong. That rule has ruined good people and made them suspicious of every good desire they have, and it is not in the book.

Sometimes He gives you the desire first and the confirmation after, and it looks exactly like what you've got.

The difference is not in the wanting. It is in the holding. A desire held open can be confirmed or redirected and either one is survivable. A desire held shut can only be confirmed, and a voice that can only say one thing is not a voice you are listening to, it is a voice you are operating.

And nothing about wanting this has ever disqualified you from being led. Scripture puts the guiding on meekness rather than on indifference, and the Holy Spirit is not asking you to stop caring what happens.

Say the sentence and mean it

Here is the practical piece, and it is one sentence and it is difficult.

Say out loud that you would take the other answer.

Not as a technique to force clarity. Not as a bargain where you say it so He will let you keep the thing. Say it because until it is true, guidance has nowhere to land, and you already know from the shower that it is not true yet.

And if you cannot say it honestly today, say that instead. I cannot say that yet. That sentence is meek. Pretending is not.

I am not giving you a test that confirms whether the six months were God. There is no such test and I would be lying to sell you one. I am telling you what the psalm makes the condition, and He steers people who meet it.

You are able to hold this open in front of Him, and the holding open is what the verse asks for. He promised to guide the meek in judgment, and the Holy Spirit is the One who makes a hard sentence sayable in an ordinary kitchen.

The breakthrough

So here is the turn, and it is tonight, in the kitchen.

Ask the real question.

Not because I think you are wrong about February. You may be entirely right, and six months of consistent impression is not nothing, and I am not undoing it. Ask it because a yes you would never have let be a no has told you nothing, and you deserve better information than that on something this size.

You are able to open your hand on this today, and opening it was always the condition rather than the punishment. Psalm 25 puts the guiding and the teaching on the meek, and the Holy Spirit is doing that in a woman who has been walking past a question since the shower.

Now the honest half. Nothing here tells you what the answer is, and opening your hand does not guarantee clarity arrives this week, and it may confirm exactly what you wanted. However He answers, the outcome is His and not ours to sell, and six months of wanting it are never evidence against you. What is settled is who gets guided.

Six months of an answer that always agrees. Go and ask the real question.

Declare this over yourself

Say them out loud. The standing to speak them is yours because you are in Christ and Christ is in you, and the authority is not your own: it is His, delegated and carried in His Name, and the Holy Spirit is the One who makes the word live in an honest woman's mouth. However He answers, and whether the answer confirms February or turns it over, the outcome is His, and six months of hoping are never evidence against you.

  1. Voice that keeps agreeing with me, you are a preference and you have been wearing His name. Psalm 25:9 says the meek will He guide and makes the willingness the qualifier rather than the wanting. You are not confirmation, and you are an echo I have been running.
  2. Habit of walking past the real question, get out in the name of Jesus. You have had weeks of a good woman avoiding one sentence in her own kitchen, and God has never once asked anybody to stop caring what happens. A hand held open can be confirmed or turned.
  3. Lord, the meek will You guide in judgment and the meek will You teach Your way. Scripture makes that the condition rather than my accuracy, and the Holy Spirit is with me while I say the hard sentence tonight. I am opening my hand on February, and I am asking You the real question.
